Yes. Arcanima involves manipulating aether according to formulas, gathering it into precise geometries and shapes in order to produce powerful effects.

[ she looks kind of surprised - it's not really that impressive?? alphinaud is the artsy one. but she's been drawing and carving aetheric geometries since the moment she could life a quill, really, so it doesn't seem all that impressive to her. any sharlayan worth their salt is familiar with arcanima. ]
[ but then, she does not really see it as art, regardless of how pretty it might be. she should introduce him to alphinaud's portrait skills, someday.. if only to thoroughly embarrass him. ]
Nevertheless, they are symbols that all arcanists must become comfortable with, both to create and to recognize. Without them, there would be no.. well -

[ With one final pat to Carbuncle's head, Prompto urges him off his chest and he climbs back to his feet at last. Ah, he has such a warm spot near his heart where Carbuncle sat...what a good, perfect boy, almost as good as a chocobo. Almost. ]

[ it's amazing that he can still breathe, tbh, with that mjolnir of a carbuncle having sat on his chest for so long, slowly crushing his ribs to powder. topaz is an active buncle, however, so he's happy to hop down onto his feet again, wiggling his tails excitedly. go for walkies?? ]

[ as if reading her thoughts, topaz rears up to snatch the scarf in its teeth, whipping it around until it's wrapped around his sparkly neck. and then he's at the door, looking back at them both. what are they waiting for?? ]
[ Oh, oh no. That's too cute. Carbuncle in a scarf!!! All too quickly, Prompto is whipping out his camera, snapping a picture of Topaz with the scarf on before he starts towards the door. ]
Think he's gonna leave us in the dust if we don't catch up!
[ i mean yeah, that's cute as heck, and definitely picture worthy, so alisaie bends to pat topaz on the head when she passes to open the door. immediately the carbuncle is right out the door, hopping across the snow, leaving tiny little footprints behind. ]
