[ And true to his word! Shortly afterwards Prompto is out by the lakeside, having mayyybe cheated with his powers to get him there all the faster so he can start building the fire. Though he is not...terribly good at building fires — Gladio is the survivalist of the group for a reason — and by the time Alisaie arrives, he is crouched down by a pile of wood, vainly trying to strike a match to start the blaze. ]

Okay, c'mon...this time, this time for sure!

[ she'll get there... these things take time for ye oldeys..

but apparently soft city boys can't light fires. alisaie steps up behind him, her smile slanted, as she leans over to watch him. ah, that's never going to work.. ]

Do you need a hand?

[ They sure can't! At the sound of her voice, Prompto perks right up, turning to face her with a grin, cheeks turning a rosy pink at the sight of her haloed by the sunset. Ah, he never gets tired of that feeling of his heart flip-flopping in his chest...but it really is a lovely night. The sort of night that would be perfect for a date!

...Which this is not. It is not supposed to be date-y at all!!! ]

You bet I could! D'you have a fire spell in that arsenal of yours?

[ Little does he know... ]

[ sorry prompto, it's super date-y.

alisaie smiles, rolling her shoulders in a shrug. ]

I do, but I can hardly trust it at the moment. Besides, 'tis better I teach you the proper way to start a fire, yes?

[ teach a man to fish, etc. dropping to a kneel, alisaie rearranges his firewood a little, before casting her eyes around for anything to serve as kindling - there are some dry leaves that will do the job. ]

You want the fire to be able to breathe, stacking a lot of heavy wood will smother it before it can catch. Work on lighting the smaller twigs first, and once it grows, the larger logs will catch. I do not suppose you have flint?

[ unless he does, what was he trying to light it with anyway, two rubbing sticks?? ]

[ He has some matches!! They just aren't going a long way with how thick the wood he was trying to use is. But with the kindling she adds to the fire now, they may have more success... ]

Ohhhh, right...guess it's kind of been awhile since I had to help build a fire. [ Yes, help, because he could basically never get them started on his own. But with all the experience they had camping, helping with the fire was inevitable. Even if he forgot to throw on the kindling, at least the log tepee he made is pretty impressive??

He's trying. ]

No flint, but let's give this a try...

[ He strikes a new match, lowering the flame to the kindling. It catches! ]

[ there we go!! he's doing it. what a good boy. alisaie smiles, then leans forward to carefully blow on the flame, urging it to catch the rest of the kindling, and begin to set on the small twigs as well. ]

There we are. Simple. Learning to build a proper fire is surprisingly important, you should take the time to practice, if you can.

[ He can be taught!! A grin warms his face as she blows on the flame, catching the rest of the kindling on fire and the twigs to follow. ]

I mean, I've got a lot of practice, I'm just...out of practice. Been awhile since I've had to build one...

[ And even longer than he's been here. Even back where he left off on Eos, it has been some time since he had last camped with his friends. Not since Cartanica... ]

We used to camp all the time when we were on the road. Gladio's more the...survival guru of the group, though. [ Shockingly, Prompto is not an outdoorsman. ] Anyway, soon as we get this roarin', we can get the s'mores assembled!

[ For now, though, he scoots back, perching on a conveniently placed log near the fire. ]

[ .... super out of practice by the looks of it.

but hey, she was a spoiled rich kid for most of her life so who is she to judge?? she sits back with him as well, though on the ground, with her back propped to the log and her arms wound over her knees. ]

Yes, they had better be worth all of this trouble! Where are they?

[ FEED HER ]

Comin' right up!

[ Prompto reaches into a bag sitting on the ground near the log, pulling out some graham crackers, chocolate, and marshmallow, the essential ingredients for the perfect s'more. He snags a few long sticks as well, holding out one for her to take. ]

First things first. You gotta toast the 'mallow.

[adelphoi]

[ ah okay this is speaking her language. she knows campfire stuff, and toasting marshmallows! the moment he hands her a stick she cracks the end off to make a sharp edge, leaning forward eagerly. ]

Where are they?

[ she'll just start digging in the bag with him.. ]

[punshots]

[ Careful, Alisaie, you wouldn't want to prematurely find the engagement ring!!!

A moment later, Prompto pulls out the bag of marshmallows, tearing it open and offering her one. They're the big, big fluffy kind... ]

Heeeere you are, milady! You seem like you know what to do with this part.

[ But seeing as how she knew how to start a fire, that's not too surprising. ]

[adelphoi]

[ ah... this is all so sudden even for prompto.. ]

I certainly do.

[ taking the marshmallow from his hands, she savagely impales its soft, squishy body on her stick, and holds it over the fire to roast it alive. ]

[punshots]

[ Look at her go, impaling that marshmallow without a second thought. Prompto follows suit, smiling fondly as he skewers his own marshmallow, holding it above the fire just so, turning it slowly in his hands. Gotta keep it melting evenly inside! ]

You camp a lot back home, then?

[ She obviously know what she's doing here. ]
